Dialectical Dessertism: The ContestIt has long been debated just how cake and pie came to be bitter enemies (and occassional allies against other desserts). Some say it started in the Middle Ages when butter was first used for both unequally awesome desserts.

What's this Contest About?
It's pretty simple. You're going to answer a very simple question. What is the origin of the pie/cake debacle? How you go about doing that is completely up to you. But since you have complete creative freedom to write history, we're expecting some very interesting (to say the least) renditions.

Emoticon TournamentAfter months of waiting and anticipation, the "Secret Contest" I had planned is here! I bring you, the Emoticon Tournament!

After all the participants are gathered, I will use random.org to match the participants up randomly. I will then select a topic, and then you and your opponent will face off and make an emote based on the theme. You will have 1 week to make the emote, and then our judges will decide the winner of each match up.

If you win your match, you will move on to the next round, and face off another winner

LTdAB Poetry Slam Submission Folder Open!We had a great time chatting with our participants, prize donors, judges and fellow writers yesterday. The month is approaching its end, and we have finally created and opened our contest folder for the poetry slam. Get those entries in as soon as you feel they are ready, but before the deadline at 11:59 PM CST May 31st, 2013. Here's a rundown of what all we expect an entry to have and be when submitted:

Entries must follow the theme of Self-Identity and must be work written for this contest.

Entries must be literature deviations containing the text of the slam poem with a link to where the audio can be heard.

The performance of the slam poem must be between 1-3 minutes. If it is longer or shorter we will ask you to modify the poem.

Video submissions are accepted (via a link to youtube in the writer's comments of the literature deviation)

Hi guys!
So sorry for the delay in announcing the winners
- I've been having minor issues once in a while during
my pregnancy this time, and it was difficult for me to do
anything this weekend, plus I still work fulltime, so I am
exhausted pretty much all the time, sometimes even too
much to stay on my comp for more than 5 minutes in a row,

Saint Patrick's Day Art Challenge

#irelandART Is your home for Saint Patrick's Day and all things Irish!  You do not have to live in Ireland nor be of Irish decent to join the group and participate in this Art Challenge!

The assignment is simple, using ANY medium (photography, traditional art, literature, etc.) show us how you celebrate Saint Patricks day on Marth 17, 2011!

Show us your home town's Saint Patrick day parade, take a photo of yourself searching for a four leaf clover, pouring yourself a pint of Guinness, running through the streets wearing a cape fashioned from the Irish flag, or maybe just write a little limerick about any or all of the above!

Then submit your masterpieces to #irelandART's "irelandART Community" gallery!  All participants will be rewarded by getting featured in a group blog the following weekend!  I will also feature my favourite entries in my journal.

Note: when uploading your submission to deviantART you are encouraged to submit to the Community Projects>Holidays>2011>St. Patrick's Day category!  And please mention #irelandART and this challenge in your deviation comments!
